Task 1-5 : Interpretation of borehole geophysics [GM, ITES]
Objectives :
Invert borehole geophysical logs to extrapolate a continuous alteration profile.
Description of planned work :
Logs provide a continuous in situ recording of the petrophysical properties at decametric to metric scale. Hence, they could provide a continuous alteration profile, after 3 steps of processing :
- Correction of geophysical logs from environmental effects. For instance, true resistivity can be inverted from electrical resistivity measurements at different depths of investigation, using the RtEvREst software.
- Comparison of petrophysical properties of centimetric cores and geophysical logs at the same depths to estimate the scaling effect from these measurements, at both Nojima and Soultz-sous-Forêt.
- Use the inverted geophysical log data to retrieve a continuous alteration profile across the Nojima fault.
Analysis | Purpose | Institute in charge | Nojima | Soultz |
---|---|---|---|---|
Inversion of true resistivity | True resistivity of the electrical borehole at Nojima | GM (Pezard) | Systematic | |
Inversion of true resistivity | True resistivity of the electrical borehole at Soultz | ITES (Girard) | Systematic |
